We have high ambitions to make supply chains in our industry more sustainable – and commercialising ISCC Plus certified nonwovens for hygiene applications was a huge achievement in this connection. To celebrate this important step in the right direction and at the same time support sustainability in a broader perspective, we have decided to fund tree planting initiatives in Denmark and Malaysia – the two countries where we have nonwovens production.
The funding will be directly relative to our sales in 2022 and 2023 of ISCC Plus certified nonwovens for production of diapers and feminine hygiene products.
In Denmark we have teamed up with EcoTree International, a B Corp certified company, who will ensure that for every tonne of ISCC Plus certified nonwoven we supply from our site in Denmark, a tree is planted in a Danish forestry project. The first donation of trees in Denmark is made already and covers 100 tonnes of our carbon footprint reduced nonwovens for baby diapers sold in the first three quarters of 2022.
For our second ISCC Plus certification, the facility in Malaysia, we have joined the tree planting program managed by Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM). We have agreed to become active corporate sponsors in this initiative for the next two years. Our employees from our Malaysian site will take part in the first tree planting in 2023.
Sustainability has always been a natural priority for us, and we hope that celebrating our accomplishments in commercialising carbon footprint reduced nonwovens can fuel our continued success within this important area.
