Maintenance Technician

In Asheboro, North Carolina we print on nonwoven and provide our customers with key components for baby diapers, feminine care, and adult incontinence care products.

Position Summary

As a Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for the safe maintenance, repair, installation, and modification of all print and auxiliary equipment. Responsible for maximizing uptime, quality, and production time efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, resolve and install electrical equipment, components, motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, and electrical systems to help meet production goals.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Diagnose root cause of electrical malfunction or failure of operational equipment.
• Ensure print lines, offline rewinder, building equipment (i.e. HVAC), and auxiliary equipment (i.e. stretch wrappers, cranes, Alphasonic cleaner, laser engraver, etc.) are performing at optimal levels.
• Always work with a sense of urgency, maximizing time efficiency without compromising performance or quality of work performed.
• Install, remove, maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide variety of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment and components related to the facilities and equipment used.
• Record all maintenance and repair services performed in PM5.
• Resolve equipment emergencies, unplanned problems, and repairs. Troubleshoot equipment issues to identify root cause. Document and use lessons learned.
• Support upgrade production lines with new equipment/technology as needed.
• Utilize and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Maintain a clean and organized maintenance shop.
• Perform other maintenance tasks as assigned by Head of Maintenance.
• Assess and analyze current practices and drive improvement.

Safety Efforts
Responsible for knowing and following all safety rules. Proper and safe conduct is encouraged in and around the facility and machinery. It is expected that each employee uses proper personal safety protection, protect other associates and company property from accidents, illnesses, and health hazards. Safety is mandatory and will be reviewed when considering job performance, promotions, and other forms of recognition including pay rates.

Quality Efforts
Responsible for the inherent quality of the work performed. Quality is built into production and supported through preventative maintenance. Quality will be considered in performance evaluations, promotions, and any other form of recognition including pay rates.

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical experience
• 3+ years of industrial electrical experience. Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment and components.
• Able to work 1:30pm-10:00pm, 5 days per week.
• Availability to work on-call service, weekends, overtime, and holidays, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Electrical/Electronic/Automation technician diploma/degree/certificate and/or Maintenance or Electrician Journeyman, preferred.
• Experience with flexographic printing press, preferred.
• Working knowledge in PLC applications and software is considered an asset.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to deal with uncertainty and to work well under pressure to reduce the down time of the equipment.
• Must demonstrate a sense of urgency and focus on supporting time efficiency for the production team.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
• Computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, are required.
• Strong time management and organizational skills. Good communication and analytical skills.
• Experience in manufacturing for a fast-paced growth business.
• Ability to multi-task and produce quality work.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative to resolve problems in a demanding, time pressured environment with tight deadlines.
• Forklift certification.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties, an employee is regularly required to talk or hear, walk or sit, stand, climb, use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls, and to reach with hands or arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Excellent vision is a requirement, to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, color vision and the ability to focus.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job; mechanical, electrical, and pressurized equipment, including hazardous materials and fumes/odors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and will comply with government regulations regarding hearing protection.
