Reducing road congestion and CO₂ emissions

The Fibertex Personal Care group produces a large amount of nonwovens – and this has of course increased the number of trucks used for transportation in our entire supply chain. As this contributes to road congestion as well as CO2 emissions, we wanted to put new focus on this.
We have worked diligently with our customers on reducing volumes moved by road transport. Hereunder the possibility of substituting road transport with rail transport, without compromising our customers’ expectations to transit time and flexibility. As an example, we succeeded in converting a major part of road transport from Denmark to Italy to rail transport. By using rail solution from Padborg in Northern Germany to Verona in Italy, we have attained a carbon footprint saving of approx. 30%.
