Powered by the sun
As an energy intensive manufacturing company we are aware of the importance of reducing and optimising energy consumption while increasing the use of renewable energy. The sun is a powerful energy source and harnessing this power by installing solar panels can make a significant difference. With this in mind, the idea of installing a solar cellar system at the roof of our production building in Malaysia was not far.
When choosing the panels it was decisive to find the best panels with high energy output (Watt Peak per panel) in relation to demand of area. A model with 495WP per panel, generating 1.5% extra electricity with same roof area available compared with other solutions – was chosen. Next, we hired an engineer to ensure our roof was able to be certified for an installation weighing more than 100 tonnes. After this was confirmed, the installation work could begin.
In April 2021, we could switch on the installation composed of more than 4,000 solar cells covering an area of approximately 10,000 m2. The investment amounts to DKK 6.5 million and is expected to generate green power equivalent to 2,600 MWh/year corresponding to a reduction of 1,700 tonnes of CO2 emission per year.
