One of the areas where we saw an opportunity to act more responsibly was in the way we manage the resin we buy. As we are handling more than 120,000 tons of plastics pellets each year, we recognise the importance of preventing any pellets to be released into the environment.
For the sites that use resins we made an official commitment last year by signing the international Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS) pledge.
This programme is designed to prevent loss of plastic granules (pellets, flakes and powders) in the plastics value chain and their release into the environment. Read more about the six commitments of Operation Clean Sweep.
Following our diligent mapping of handling of plastic pellets and a serious risk assessment, new procedures, training material and governance structures have been integrated in our environmental management system.
To highlight our commitment internally but also in the supply chain we have developed pictograms to support the communication of this important initiative.
