Reducing workplace accidents

In 2016, we set a Group target to reduce the Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) by 20% before 2020.

Both did we improve our employees’ competences while improving the safety at work – and we reached our target to reduce LTIFR. In fact, the target was reached already in 2017. Compared to 2016, we have decreased the LTIFR with 37%.

At our Malaysian facility, we chose reduction of forklift accidents as a focus area, as this represented a considerable share of the total number of accidents.

To ensure proper skills, we organised forklift training for employees. This was followed by a test that had to be passed before the employee was given authorisation to drive a forklift truck. Additionally, we implemented a check list to ensure condition of the forklift truck, which the individual driver is obliged to fill out before using the forklift truck.

Due to well-organised programs and engagement from the involved parties, this initiative proved to be very successful.
